BP Helios House ! ! !

Check Out this green Gas Station.
I was watching Ovation TV's Art and the City and they were talking about Art in Las Angeles and this was one gas station that was more Art and Eco-Green friendly then any other Gas station. The world's only Green Gas station everything that is except for the Gas but a good move in the right Direction.

Mike Simonian and Maaike Evers of the San Francisco-based Mike and Maaike scoured Google Image Search for low-res photos of some of the most famous jewelry in the world-an Imelda Marcos necklace, the Hope Diamond-doctored them in Photoshop, and transferred the pixelated images to leather. The resulting Stolen Jewels collection distills the originals' bold sizes, shapes, and colors into striking graphic forms with a healthy dose of computer-age irony.

There's something very French countryside about Danish designer Lene Toni Kjeld's screen-printed Transitional Wallpaper, named for the sense of movement created by one pattern drifting into another. The design was recently picked up by The Collection, a boutique that champions girly wall hangings in Paris' Marais district. Available in eight different patterns and four hybrids.

Save Second Base!

Here's a great way to draw attention to breast cancer. I just got my "Quinn" shirt in the mail today and I love it- the back is also nicely designed. The Quinn is a bit more understated than the Kelly, the original. I am going to give these as holiday presents.....Support the causes you believe in and raise money to help solve some of these problems. Share the news about Save Second Base. I believe it is a group of high school girls who designed the shirts and they actually got in trouble for the shirt, I guess we do need an anti-conservative movement! I think this is a smart design- everyone has an interest in second base except gay men and I bet they still support saving second base!

Designing Things Your Don't Necessarily Like

Gocco.Gooco.Gocco! Join the Fun........

Gocco Mania! Today the NY Times magazine featured the article: The Cult of Gocco. Go to the NY Times website and check it out. It highlighted the website www.savegocco.com- check it out. From there.....tons of Gocco info. Check it all out.

In class I said that I would post on the Object Design blog info on putting together and order for Gocco screens, ink, etc from Paper Source which has a retail space in DC. After visiting their website and seeing that they are unable to provide the screens, the key material, I found printaddictjapan on the Etsy site and ordered some screens and bulbs from them. I am happy to sell these to you, if you would like. You are also free to go on Etsy and purchase your own. I wanted to get some of these materials on their way so that we could keep moving forward with projects. If you are intersted in putting an order toegther for inks, go to the Website for Paper Source, see what is available and we can do that. I also purchased asphaltum for use with the Gocco....for any etchers that are interested. If you have suggestions and ideas, let me know.
Let's have some group Gocco work sessions and get the Gocco rolling!
