THE HEARTLESS STONE: A reading and discussion about the global diamond industry Towson University Department of English welcomes Tom Zoellner, a literary journalist, for a reading and discussion of his book THE HEARTLESS STONE: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE WORLD OF DIAMONDS, DECEIT AND DESIRE (St. Martin's 2006). Zoellner reads Wednesday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Towson Room of the Cook Library as part of the Towson English Department Reading Series. Zoellner traveled to ten countries to tell the story of the global diamond industry, from mines and smuggling in the Central African Republic to the mills in India where stones are processed to a jewelry store in Pittsburgh. Salon.com called the book "a graceful, well-documented tour through decades of diamond-related lore." Zoellner is also the co-author AN ORDINARY MAN, the autobiography of Paul Rusesabegina, the heroic hotel manager whose story is told in the film HOTEL RWANDA. Zoellner's reading is made possible with help from the Clarisse Mechanic Fund. For more information, contact Michael Downs, mdowns@towson.edu or 4-3695.
